I hope this finds you all well and that you had a happy holiday time. I traveled up to Portland to enjoy Christmas with Cory, Darwin and Audrey. There’s nothing much better than a three year old at Christmas.
Now on to future plans…
I have decided I am going to have to sell Oldtimer. I would have a hard time cruising alone and I really don’t want to do that anyway so the barge will be going on the market.
Before that, however, I have several small projects to finish as I left the boat in a hurry last October. Also, I would love to take one last cruise.
If you have thought about taking a canal cruise, now would be your opportunity to spend a week or so on the French waterways. I envision a trip starting around the beginning of May and finishing up the beginning of July. The weather should still be ok and the waterways not too crowded. Traveling would be limited to the area between Bordeaux and Toulouse on the Garonne Canal, maybe including trips onto the Baise and Tarn Rivers.
If this is something that would interest you, get in touch for details. I’m just starting to make plans now and I would love to hear from you.
Stay safe,
Don
Don, I’m so glad you had Christmas with your family. As you say, a three-year-old is good therapy indeed. I’m also pleased you’re planning a last cruise on Oldtimer before you sell her. She’s such a lovely barge, May I put your ‘call’ out for crew to the Women on Barges group on Facebook? If I post the link to this blog there, you might receive some interest among the members or those they know? I would love to do it but we are probably going north and east this year when I’ve finished work. It was always our hope we’d meet up with you again. Ah well, you never know!
ReplyDeleteHi Val,
DeleteI'd like to wait on posting to the WOB's page until I find out how many of my friends and family want to take part. I've had several replies now and I'm trying to work out dates. Maybe in a couple of weeks when I have a better handle on things. It's a good thought, though.
No problem, Don. I’ll keep an eye out here on your blog. My email is also on my blog, so if you’d prefer to use that, you can let me know there. We are in Seville at the moment escaping the wind and rain in NL. It’s quite lovely and makes me think California in winter must be much the same. Hoping you are keeping well and are coping with life.
